About Fist
There are at least 2 artists known under this name:
1) Fist was one of several early NWOBHM bands who were signed to MCA records at about the same time (others in this group were Quartz, Tygers Of Pan Tang, and White Spirit). Their sound wasn't too different from their contemporaries, with the exception being they had a slightly more melodic feel to their songs. Two albums were released, and like many other NWOBHM bands, they faded away soon after, disbanding in 1984. Fifteen years later, original members Keith Satchfield and Harry Hill put the band back together with a new lineup and are active at this time.
Discography:
Turn the Hell On (1980)
Back with a Vengeance (1982)
Back with a Vengeance: The Anthology (2002, compilation)
Storm (2005)
2) A Russian Hip-Hop artist Evgeny “Fist” Kulakov (Евгений Кулаков) was born on 29 January 1983 in Moscow. He began his musical career in 1999. His first experimental album “Такой, Какой Есть” (“I Am, As I Am”) was released in 2001; the style of that record could be classified as a standard rap, however all songs on the album are very lyrical.
These days Fist feels a bit ashamed of that release, because back then he was greatly influenced by wish to make rap music, while now he has found his real musical style, which isn’t as simple to classify as his first work (however his music still has some hip-hop elements).
The followed albums aren’t easy to associate with a particular music genre. Fist says that he is just making music that comes out of his hart, and does not limit himself by frames of particular genre(s).
Lyrics of Fist are actually poetry (even without the music they will keep their undiminished artistic value), and instrumentals he is using are mostly very soft, gentle and melodic; they include some elements of Hip-Hop, but also a lot of elements from other musical styles (you can hear a lot of classical instruments in his tracks for instance).
At the moment (april 2008) Fist has 6 CD’s released, including 4 unique albums:
— “Такой, Какой Есть” (“I Am, As I Am”), 2001
— “Тенденция Развития Спокойного Безумия” (“Tendency Of Development Of Quiet Nonsense”), 2003
— “Мир Искусства” (“The World Of Art”), 2004 (re-released under the name “Другая Музыка” (“Other Music”), 2005)
— “Как Птицы” (“As Birds”), 2005
