About sktchy ppl

SKTCHY PPL is the bass music brainchild of beat maker Tim Mailtland, hailing from Ft. Myers FL.

At a young age Tim was exposed to a plethora of musical instruments starting with drums at the ripe age of 3, guitar and bass at 16 and keyboard 18.
Early on he was influenced by indie sounds from bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Interpol, Modest Mouse, Ratatat, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and ambient artist like Múm. He also grew fond of hip-hop acts like MF DOOM, J Dilla, Wu-tang Clan and then on to more experimental artists like Flying Lotus and Shlohmo.

Soon after the explosion of hip hop infused electronic music, Tim was drawn to a more underground sound that was pioneered by one of his biggest influences to date, Mr. Carmack. Fascinated by the offset heavy hitting drums, gritty atmosphere and lush melodic breakdowns; Tim found a place he could call home in the bass scene.

After creating a Soundcloud and uploading tracks, SKTCHY PPL quickly started making rounds gaining 1K+ plays on tracks and collaborating with serious heat makers in the game by the likes of Untitld, Vide, Mo Vibes, Jon Casey, and Bad Chromer (formally Chrome Republic) to name a few. His original production and sound design has grown tremendously to the point where he has released TWO sound packs containing his signature sounds.

Still early in his journey, he's already been lucky enough to play the main stage at events like UNTZ Festival 2019, Emissions 2019, and Stilldream 2018. It wasn’t too long before he was playing alongside some of the most influential artist that contributed to the cult following of bass music including Tsuruda, Eazybaked, Untitld, Milano, NastyNasty, G Space, Tiedye Ky, Bleep Bloop and many more.
