About You Are Plural

Fronted by Ephriam Nagler and Jen Grady, You Are Plural formed in the backseats of a European tour van while crossing the French countryside with Emily Jane White. From there, Jen returned to San Francisco and Ephriam continued on tour working for Omaha’s Cursive. Driving up the West Coast, they picked up Jen, and You Are Plural continued to form in their thoughts from within the bunks of the Cursive tour bus. Jen and Ephriam played their first show only three days after Ephriam returned from tour, at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. They soon moved to the Lower Haight and began demoing songs for their debut album, Hand It Over. Only three months later, they left together on tour, Jen playing bass for Adam Haworth Stevens and Ephriam running FOH sound for The Felice Brothers across the USA. They flew immediately from that tour to the next, again with Emily Jane White in Europe. After all these tours, they moved North to a small home in Olympia, WA where they decided to focus their time on their own project, You Are Plural. From recording both Hand It Over and No More at home in 2011, to sharing the stage with an unusual variety of bands such as Dark Dark Dark, The Felice Brothers, Mt St Helens Vietnam Band, Mother Falcon, Lake, and Typhoon, and to being Tim Kasher’s backing band for the screening of “My Suicide,” You Are Plural held their sound in front of different types of audiences and continues to pursue every avenue they can.
