About The Ryman Rails

At the core of the band are three friends with a long time love of classic country music, blues, gospel and rock 'n' roll, which informs their own unique sound. A drummer and other guest musicians often accompany them. They play their California gumbo filtered through American roots music traditions.

"One Buck chuck"
Charlotte Chamberlain

Charlotte "One Buck chuck" Chamberlain shares the lead vocals for the Los Angeles trio while holdin' down the stand up bass playing duties. One Buck grew up with music in her heart. She has played various instruments over the years but recently decided to take on the task of waltzing around onstage with a standup bass, to great effect! chuck is a longtime major supporter of the Los Angeles roots music community. She has years of experience in booking, promotion and management. Her life revolves around music every day. She grew up listening to her father play Carter Family and bluegrass standards on his autoharp, picking out the melody just like Mother Maybelle. chuck has been a fan of numerous genres of music, including punk, classic soul, mod, ska, obscure '60s garage, where she was at ground zero in the early '80s when her love for nightclubbing and live music began. Recently she has been given the name "Big Mama Charlotte" by Dave Alvin since she's been know to belt out a blues tune or two a la Big Mama Thornton.

"Auntie Doe"
Dorinda Peterson

"Auntie Doe" plays rhythm guitar and sings backup & harmony vocals in the band. She comes from a strong musical background within her family. Her father was a music teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District, she plays her father's acoustic guitar in the band. Doe has always wanted to play music more but life always
got in the way. Recently, her best friend (chuck) and her husband (Pete) encouraged her to get serious and join the band, and with gusto she has jumped in with both feet. Doe and chuck have been best friends for many years now, they have shared many life and musical experiences together and are thrilled to finally have a project to work in together.

"Lonesome Pete"
Dale Peterson

Dale Peterson (Rhythm Lords/Trouble No More) is the guitarist, music director and co-lead vocalist. Pete and chuck have played a few gigs here and there and he had always wanted to play more music together. Says Pete, "It wasn't until chuck started playing the standup that I saw something we could sink our teeth into, but I wanted it to come when she was ready. Then a few months later I saw her play with some other folks and I was very impressed with her progress and her command of singing and playing the bass at the same time. I knew it was time." Pete continues, "My wife Doe has so much talent bottled up in her shy personality. I've seen this in other folks but wasn't gonna let up on her. I gently pushed her into this project and chuck was very excited and willing to make it happen so here we are, three friends having fun playing music. Life is good!" says Lonesome Pete
