About Clown

There is more than one artist called Clown:

0 - New Wave band from Greece. Recorded at Creep Records.

1 - rapcore band from Spain. http://www.indyrock.es/clown.htm

2 - rapcore/nu-metal band from Philippines. http://www.myspace.com/clownph

3 - rapcore/hardcore band from
Bosnia and Herzegowina.

4 - metalcore/trash metal band from Norway.

On March 7 2007 it was 10 years since Clown first live show. Even after all these years with more or less struggling to get up and out, and despite all the set backs, disappointments, line up changes, change of rehearsal spaces, and lots and lots of downtime -Clown is still alive. It all comes down to the joy of playing metal, releasing anger, the need to create music. This is an addiction, and it won't just go away. Clown won't die.

It all started in late 1996/early 1997 in a suburb of Bergen on the Norwegian west coast called Åsane. A bunch of young metalheads into Metallica, Pantera, Korn, Machine Head, Sepultura, Meshuggah, Deftones etc etc decided to start a band, and so Clown was born. After 7 years of non stop pushing, the band came to a halt in 2005 when co-founder Haakon Haagensen left the band due to his fatherhood, and the rest of the members took some time off to do other things (music, studies, travelling, working -all 4 current members work at local club Garage). Just before this they recorded their first full length album, "Remedy For Bliss", produced by the members of fellow Norsemen El Caco. So far, this album has not been released, and nothing is being done with the situation right now.

The release prior to this was the EP "Bloom's Decay" which is still available from the band. Before this Clown released 2 demos and a split EP with local friends Ribozyme.

In 2006 Clown made a couple of live performances, just to let people know that the band is still here. Clown is a well-experienced live act, having toured both their native country as well as a few dates in Europe together with El Caco in 2004. Highlights also include a performance at the Quart Festival in 2002, and performing for a packed Hulen in their hometown Bergen at the By:larm event in 2004.
