About National Service
NATIONAL SERVICE are four friends who started making music together at school. In the last 15 years the members have performed and released music under various guises. Having settled in London to study at Goldsmiths College in 2009, singer Fintan Campbell met guitarist Iain Moore and started making music together. Since then the project has been through several iterations before finding it’s feet in 2017.
The band signed to fierce panda records in January 2017 and released their first single, A Little More Time to critical acclaim. Their follow up Timid Kisses was BBC 6 track of the week and was Steve Lamacqs National Anthem.
Meltwater EP is their brand new EP and features five tracks racked with emotion and laced with controlled mayhem. The EP follows in the gently upset musical steps of last year’s casually frantic Foreign Love EP. Ever eloquent, National Service say it points to a marked shift in direction - a precise and succinct snapshot of how the music is developing: “It’s lusher, angrier, more urgent, with deeper layers of instrumentation, more ambitious production, more collaborative composition and more expansive. We felt it was definitely a strong manifesto in terms of what to expect from a live show.”
Since then, the band have gigged with the likes of Man Of Moon, To Kill a King, Broken Records and are currently recording their debut album and have just released new single 'Caving'
