Kristen Wright’s music may best be described as honest and sung from the gut. Her bluesy, powerful voice demands your attention, while her lyrics leave no room for misinterpretation. As a performer, she is able to connect with any audience by offering genuine vulnerability and passion. As a songwriter, she believes good music is true music. She proves this through her autobiographical first release, "In the Year of Letting Go," a collection of songs written within one year. The songs therapeutically process through her various circumstances, reconciling conflict and encouraging resilience. The album followed a car accident in 2009, impairing her ability to play guitar. She now plays with altered tunings and her sound is both harmonically and characteristically open. Her passion and gratefulness for making music is evident. Kristen is passionate about being open in every performance and song she shares. When asked why she values honesty so highly, she says, “For me, the only way to write without fear is to write what I know to be true. It does not reduce art to an objective right or wrong, but it does cause me to want to sing from my gut. I write honest music because I want to believe what I do is worth doing. I sing honest music because I cannot do anything else.” Focus On The 615 says she has, "The kind of creative singer-songwriter spirit you only (truly) find on rare occasion."
