About Dead-tones
Meet Dead-Tones, the French-Lebanese producer who spent his formative years in Ivory Coast and Paris before making his way to LA. Kamel Omais has a remarkable talent for crafting highly diversified soundscapes while maintaining the warmth of traditional music in his work.
His sound is a fusion of Western and Oriental synthscapes, which often incorporate a range of rhythms, from a twist of rock n' roll sounding drums to vintage drum machine beats sent through heavily gated reverbs, resulting in a truly unique sonic experience.
With his unique background, Dead-Tones draws inspiration from a wide range of genres, including synth pioneers like Vangelis and Tangerine Dream, and more traditional seventies artists like Fairuz and Fela Kuti.
Thanks to his training at three of the top music schools in Los Angeles, Dead-Tones has developed a unique sound that blends these diverse influences into something entirely his own. "I don't ever want my music to sound like someone else's," he says. "I'm not a classically trained musician, but it's something I've learned to embrace and turn into a strength."
Dead-Tones made a name for himself as a two-year resident for Rumors Ibiza at Destino Ibiza in 2017, where he was mentored by label boss Guy Gerber. Since then, he has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music, including LCD Soundsystem, Black Coffee, Bedouin, and music pioneers such as Danny Tenaglia, Delano smith
As a studio-driven artist, Dead-Tones has released music on prominent labels such as All Day I Dream, Bar 25, Blue Shadow, and Kindisch. He is also passionate about teaching music production and sharing his knowledge with aspiring producers. With a vast collection of analog equipment that he holds dear to his heart, Dead-Tones is an "analog lover born in a digital world."
Thanks to his unconventional approach and unique background in music, Dead-Tones is constantly pushing boundaries and exploring new sonic territory for music lovers in the ever-evolving world of music.
