About The Paul Mirfin Band
We’re a group of Yorkshire musicians who love playing anything from folk rock to country hoedowns with a bit of bluegrass on the way. We sing about faith and all life throws at us. Lyrics are crucial, harmonies and rhythms are important but good melodies and riffs are essential in our songs.
Since we formed in 2015 we’ve performed at festivals, on railway platforms, in churches and prisons. Our first EP Bring the Rain (2016) included the title track that’s been aired on TBN, BBC Introducing, Premier and UCB Radio.
Our music video The Fighter (2017) won Best Rock Video at the Jump Music Awards 2017 and our latest video This Train is Bound for Glory has had an amazing response from our YouTube viewers.
In 2018 we launched our debut album 'Ancient Roads' and this year our EP 'Light Up' with the track 'Ain't No Grave' reaching number 1 in the UK Christian Charts.
In 2018 the band released their first album 'Ancient Roads' and toured California playing venues in San Francisco and at Joshua Festival. The album was extremely well received with 4* reviews from RnR magazine:
“Mirfin’s voice is the perfect vehicle to deliver the emotions - a rich, husky baritone reminiscent of Steve Earle, which seems to carry enough life experiences with it to give weight to the words it delivers.
The result is that infectious, greasy blues tone which Robert Plant mined so effectively.”
(Trevor Raggatt March/April 2019 Issue)
The band regularly gig in the Yorkshire area as well as European tours and have recently released to singles 'Devil's Displeasure' and 'Being Real' (2022) which have a strong blues/rock feel.
