About Caleb Murphy

Caleb J. Murphy is a folksoul musician who writes about music. At the ripe young age of 12, the internet taught him how to play acoustic guitar. And fear convinced him he should never, ever sing in front of another human. In fact, nobody heard his singing voice (or much of his talking voice … his nickname was “The Forgotten One”) until about age 16 when he played one of his songs for a couple family members. Fortunately, they were very nice and lied to him about how good he was. So he kept going. At that point, he had already written a slew of songs, secretly writing his first at age 15. And it didn’t stop there — since 2009, he’s released three EPs, a full-length album, and a video album. In the spring of 2017, he asked a few friends to join him on stage for a string of shows to raise money for his wife’s and his adoption fund. He and his friends call themselves Caleb J. Murphy and The Bright Future. They were able to raise over $5,000 for the adoption fund. Caleb and his wife, Beth, adopted their baby in August 2017. Right now (possibly at this very moment), he’s recording another full-length album. It’s rumored to be a funkier, more rhythmic, more soulful version of his previous tunes. I make folksoul music. Video album watchable at www.calebjmurphy.com/workhard.
