About Sidepilot

Some of the most enduring art is birthed out of struggle and difficulty, and such is true of the songs on Mountain EP, a small sampling of material written in the midst of a yearlong period of musical redefinition and identity searching for brothers Cody and Will Hunter. Having been involved in a variety of musical acts and genres in the past, the brothers decided to start a new chapter by leaving those former influences behind and co-writing from scratch. United by a common upbringing and a mutual love for music and its power to connect with people and communicate truth and hope, they set out with a shared vision to write new music that meets the listener in the hill and valley experience of everyday life. Adopting the name Sidepilot as a nod to the equality of their respective influences in the writing process, the brothers enlisted the production talents of Jon Howard (Jon Foreman, Aaron Gillespie, General Ghost) and began to narrow down, shape, and polish the results of this writing period, ultimately landing on the five tracks that make up Mountain EP. This debut EP draws its name and inspiration from a trip that the brothers took to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa in the midst of the writing and recording process, an experience which heavily influenced the sound and message of the songs themselves. Mountain EP provides a fresh take on alternative rock music, showcasing a distinctive sound that is driven by attention grabbing guitars and thematic drums while having meaningful lyric and strong melody at its foundation. There is unity in the midst of the stylistic variety found between each track which allows the album to appeal to all types of music lovers, while the exhortations to hope and pursuit found in each song can meet anyone right where they are, whether it’s in the valley or on the mountain. Brand new release "Mountain EP" is now available for preorder on iTunes and will be available at all major online music sources on November 3!
