About Dustin Seymour

Who is Dustin Seymour? My first memory of music starts at the age of 2 when we would go watch my dad Greg and his gospel group 'The Jeremiah Singers' perform at churches around the southeast. I vividly remember running up to the stage while dad was performing and demanding to hold the microphone. On stage, the only place I've ever felt safe. I started performing at the age of 7, and began singing professionally at the age of 10. I can't ever remember not being a singer. I attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN and it was here where I fell in love with songwriting, even if I didn't know it at the time. While in Nashville, I picked up the guitar and started writing my own music. Being a lover of the English language, I was infatuated with finding new ways of saying things that people feel everyday. I was able to sing with the likes of Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton and the Oak Ridge Boys during my time in Nashville. This is the time in my life where I went from being a singer to being a musician. Country music and bluegrass are my first loves, but I've always been drawn to different sounds. From R&B artists like D'Angelo, The Isley Brothers, Gerald Levert and Bobby Womack to bands like U2, Radiohead and singer/songwriters like Ryan Adams, Neil Young, Walt Wilkins and Darrell Scott. Classical music gave me my love of chords and harmonies. All of these different styles that I've sung and loved have molded me into a different kind of country music. Following the path of artists like Ronnie Milsap, James Otto, Conway Twitty and Lee Greenwood, I have become a maker and performer of what I like to call Country Soul. It's country music with something extra. Something you not just hear, but feel. After walking away from a terrible car accident with nothing more than a few scratches, my eyes were opened. I knew there was more that I was meant to do, to say... to sing. That's what I was able to do with my newest EP "What I'm Made Of". These self-penned songs were written with healing and progress in mind. It's time to let people know who Dustin Seymour really is. New EP, 'What I'm Made Of' available now at dustinseymour.com, iTunes, Amazon and more!
