About Pink Ribbons

Pink Ribbons is the bastard creation of Sydney musician/producers Lady White and Red Dog. The lyrics are angry, the guitar solos wail, and the bass lines will bruise your kidneys. Combining indie-electro beats reminiscent of The Killgirls with the punk as fuck, no-rules-in-the-pit warehouse party atmosphere of DZ Deathrays, there's a clear lineage back to Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Kills. With androgynous, nip-tape flashing Lady White front and centre and bearded, growling Red Dog on lead guitar, it is no surprise that Pink Ribbons quickly snapped necks in the queer scene. After the blistering response from the mainstage at Midsumma Festival in 2010, Pink Ribbons spent the next 18 months touring and defining their live sound with bassist Mahli-Ann Butt (Tom Ugly) and drummer Ben Hampton (Deltorers). The result is Gutter Glam, a genre-splitting Sydney scene where club kids and band rats feel equally at home to thrash out with their gashes out. Pink Ribbons shows are about showing up to dance, and leaving with bruises. Fans arrive looking spectacular and leave in tatters. This energetic and aesthetic fanbase lead to a DJ residency at Kings Cross freak den Culture Club over the summer while remixes of the band's unnamed first EP were released by High Class Hookers and Machine God. Pink Ribbons are currently working on their debut album and carving out their own scene in Newcastle and Melbourne. "This is the dirtiest, rockin', punk as fuck electro band you will ever see" - Red Dog
