After too long away my daughter, her fiancé, and I returned to Eddie’s Attic. Lucky for us, so did Lula Wiles. They said that their last time there they played to a whopping 9-person audience. Tonight they performed for a nearly packed listening room, and the crowd’s volume and enthusiasm could have belonged to a throng three times as large.
The ladies of Lula Wiles are astonishing.
They sang like angels, and played their multiple instruments like old-timers. Their mature writing styles belied their youthful energy and their approach to the entire experience - the looks they exchanged and their closeness to each other (both vocally and physically - at one point Eleanor seemed molded to the line of Isa’s back, bent and nearly hugging her from behind) - showed just how much fun they were having, and made it impossible for us not to do the same.
See them whenever, wherever, and however often you can. I know that I will.

Great show. Very talented young musicians, that we’ll be sure to see again. Beautiful venue. This website however sucks. The actual show time was 7pm not 8pm. We missed the whole first set, along with quite a few other people. Bush league.

About Lula Wiles
What will we do? For Lula Wiles, the trio made up of Isa Burke, Eleanor Buckland, and Mali Obomsawin, the question is central to the creation of their music—and it’s the title of their new album. “We wanted to make an album that reflected, in a current way, what we are all staying up late thinking about and talking about over drinks at the dinner table,” says Obomsawin. “What is everyone worried about, confiding in their friends about, losing sleep about?” On What Will We Do, the band’s sophomore album, the trio’s voices burn, twist together, mingle, and rise like smoke signaling changes to come.
