About Demo
Born in Chicago, Alexis Ramirez "Demo" grew up in the Mexican neighborhood known as “Little Village”, living between poverty and gangs he was drawn to the culture of Hip-Hop. His MC name “DEMO” derives from the greek word “demoz” meaning “For The People”. Growing up he listened to MC's like Nas, Notorious B.I.G. Big Pun and found his way out of his reality thru music, he then began his first attempts at graffiti at age 8, Demo was quickly recognized as "The Future of the Barrio" for always keeping in mind his ambition to continue forward with his talent. At age 10 he began to write rhymes, after 3 years developing his talent and had his first live performance at the same neighborhood that gave inspiration. At 14 he was interviewed and presented his work on “RadioArte” 90.5 FM radio station.
When he turned 18 years old he was incorporated in the crew known as Flatline Vendetta. They managed to put out an album and a mixtape together.
Demo has since emerged as the youngest artist in the Hip-Hop scene Hip-Hop in Chicago. Performing along side the most respected artists in the city such as Phillip Morris, Phero, Fatel Flows, Scheme and Dee Jackson.
Thanks to his dedication he achieved to get on stage with Fatel Flows to open up for Raekwon from the Hip-Hop supergroup “Wu Tang Clan” in March 2011 in Steger, Illinois. Despite his young age "Demo" has achieved a total of 51 local live performances since the age of 13, also adding to his artist resume a total of 15 live international performances as he toured through the country of Mexico. Performing in Chicago at events such as “Respect The Mic” which was conducted in the “The Abbey Pub” bar that was featured on the show called "Bar Rescue"and performing as special invited guest in the heart of Mexico City at the legendary “Bombay”. Also, Demo has presented his talents at music festivals such as Villapalooza two years in a row and also the annual Mexican Hip-Hop festival “Hip-Hop Por El Hambre” in Puebla, Mexico.
2012 was instrumental in his career by appearing for the first time in the Subterranean along with 14 Mc `s known as Chicago’s best in the art of Freestyling. In late 2012, "Demo" participated in an interview on a radio station based at Saint Louis University 88.1 FM to create funds and help cancer patients, all proceeds went to the “Advocates Childrens Hospital”. He also been interviewed in Mexico by Rockanrolario.com on a program called UnderRap hosted by Laiko from El Instituto del Habla.
Demo is currently one of the youngest of Chicago underground artists that has managed to establish himself at an early age. He is truly an inspiration to his neighborhood, thus forever proving true his unofficial title as “The Future of the Barrio”.
