About Soapkills

Soapkills was born when Zeid Hamdan and Yasmine Hamdan met each other in October 1997 (they aren't relatives). A cult group in Lebanon, Soapkills represents the new electro scene currently blossoming in the Middle East. The group performs sensual music that draws much of its inspiration from Arab song, on which it is sometimes modelled. The band appears on a few compilations and they are now recording their first album, to be released next february. The music is based on Jasmine Hamdan's sensuous voice flirting with the minimalist electro of Zeid Hamdan's delicate machine tweakings.

Yasmine Hamdan was born in Beirut in 1976. She spent her childhood abroad, escaping the Lebanese civil war, eventually settling in Greece. She returned back to her native city after the end of the war. She has attended the Conservatory of Arabico classical song (Beirut), studied at the Variety Studio (Paris), and she holds a License in Psychology from the Sorbonne university (Paris). Yasmine is curious of everything that allows her developing experience.

Zeid Hamdan was born in Beirut in 1976. He spent his adolescence in Paris. He began his artistic trip acting in theater and cinema. After returning back to Beirut, he started played guitar and founded several bands.
