Social Focus

Social Focus is a melting pot of musical influences and experience. The band creates a unique and versatile sound that can be categorized as a blend of alternative rock and electronic pop. Since the band's inception in 2010, they have performed at such notable venus as Double Door, Martyrs, Cubby Bear, Chopin Theater and Elbo Room. The band's music has been described as a, "lively combination of alternative/pop music." Southside Tanya Vega, one of Chicago's most well know independent music reviewers, has said about the bands live shows, "This band holds nothing back from it's audience. They constantly keep the stage alive with such fantastic energy. The energy that I felt from both the lyrics & music blew this reviewer away." In 2012, Social Focus went into the studio with engineers, Chris Brickley (Wilco, The Redwalls) and Dan Dietrich (Andrew Bird, The Waco Brothers), to record their self-titled debut album. The album was recorded live and straight to tape; minimal overdubs were used. This approach created a sonically pleasing album that captured the band's "live" feel.
