Arkdown are a Sheffield, UK metal band blending modern metalcore, death metal and hardcore into a sound built on crushing riffs, groove-heavy breakdowns and melodic intensity. Formed in 2016, the band quickly gained momentum in the UK metal scene through independent releases and relentless live shows.
Early releases including the single In-Torment and the EP The Calling established Arkdown’s mix of technical metalcore and dark melody. Their growing reputation led to support slots with major heavy acts including Fit For An Autopsy, Decapitated, Make Them Suffer, Oceans Ate Alaska and Loathe.
With the release of the single Miasmic, Arkdown expanded beyond the UK metal scene, performing across Europe with shows in Portugal, Ireland and a headline debut in Switzerland. In 2020 they released Terra Phasma, a seven-track record that pushed their modern metalcore sound further into atmospheric and technical territory. The track Harbinger was later named one of BBC Introducing Sheffield’s Top 50 Songs of 2021.
In 2023 the band released the EP Life Death Dust, closing an important chapter before taking time to rebuild and refocus their sound.
Now returning with renewed energy, Arkdown are pushing deeper into hardcore influence while maintaining the precision and aggression of modern metalcore. Their upcoming EP In Absence of Mercy, set for release in 2026, features five new tracks that deliver heavier riffs, darker atmosphere and uncompromising hardcore-driven intensity.
