About The Gooneybirds

The current GooneyBirds lineup includes: Bump Blomberg (rhythm guitar, harp, vocals) Pete "Peto" Caritas (lead guitar, vocals) Mark "Munchie" Collins (drums) Chris Ryder (bass, vocals) Brian "Buzz Chopper" Kopp (piano, organ, vocals) Over the years, the band has been lucky enough to also include the following musicians: Jessica Schwartzbauer (vocals), Tom "TW" Warner (piano, organ), Steve Graham (percussion), John Banks (piano, organ). The Gooney Birds formed in the summer of 1986 somewhere between the parties in the basement of the old GooneyBirds house in Greenwood, MN and the stage at Fernando's Bar on East Lake St. in Minneapolis, MN. The Gooneys played professionally for almost 10 years in clubs from the Wetlands in New York City to the Mangy Moose in Jackson Hole, WY. They recorded a studio album at Prince's Paisley Park and numerous "live" albums during this time while touring throughout the U.S. The Cabooze Bar on the West Bank (Minneapolis, MN) has always been home to the band as they appeared there most every Sunday from 1989 to 1992.... Gooney Bucks anyone? Currently the band gets together a few times a year for a reunion to continue the music they love, to keep the memory of Jessica alive, and to bring friends together for an evening of fun.
