CONTACT INFO-, thegooneybirds@gmail.com, 612-701-3005, www.gooneybirds.com, The GooneyBirds formed around 1987 somewhere between the band house parties (Greenwood, MN) and Fernando's Bar (15th & East Lake St., Minneapolis, MN). They toured extensively for 10+ years playing bars, colleges, and festivals in the Midwest, Colorado area, and many other parts of the U.S (200+ shows/yr) and released studio & live albums. The Cabooze Bar (Minneapolis, MN) has always been home to the band and they performed most every Sunday from 1989 to 1992. Gooney Bucks anyone? In 2002, the GooneyBirds reunited for a memorable show at the Cabooze Bar, bringing back some original members who had strayed, including Bump Blomberg and vocalist Jessica Schwartzbauer. Sadly, it would be the last time the entire original lineup would play together. Schwartzbauer and her 2 young children were tragically murdered by her estranged husband in 2003, shortly prior to another reunion concert that was to take place. The Jessica Schwartzbauer Memorial Foundation was established shortly there after as a way to celebrate their lives in a positive manner. Over the next several years, the band played occasional reunion shows. In 2011, tragedy struck again. Drummer, vocalist, songwriter, and founding member Steve Rummler died of an accidental overdose after struggling for years with chronic pain. The Steve Rummler Hope Foundation was setup to help those struggling with chronic pain & addiction and in memory of Steve. The GooneyBirds continue to play a few times a year. Blomberg has been busy writing and recording new music with his duo Pushing Chain. Collins plays regularly with Kung Fu Hippies, Momentary Lapse of Floyd and other local bands. Ryder and Caritas mostly drink good beer and watch baseball or live music. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the years and who continue to support us., We hope to see YOU at our next GooneyBirds show!
