About Tomas Diaz Music
Tomas Diaz was born in Matanzas, Cuba where he spent his teenage years captivated by the sounds of rock and roll. He dreamt of a life in the United States, a place, free from tyranny, where he would be able to express himself freely through music. He made a name for himself on the island by invoking the spirit of Jimi Hendrix in town square renditions of Purple Haze every September 18th the day that marks Tomas’ birth and Hendrix’s death. Tomas, a pro yankee, afro wearing, rocker was incarcerated in 1978 for his pro-American fervor. During his nearly two years in jail, he tattooed the American flag above his heart. His passion for the “Yankee enemy” earned him a spot on a Key West bound shrimp boat at the Mariel Port in 1980. Once in America, Tomas grew that passion into an illustrious musical career. Collaborating with world class musicians including, Bruce Springstein, Celia Cruz, Clarence Clemmons, Phish, Snoop Dogg, Chayanne, Ricky Martin, Tania Leon, Suenalo,Elastic Bond, Nag Champyons and many more. He is currently a member of The Spam Allstars, a pioneering Miami band that, with Tomas’ influence, has created a unique sound that is often imitated. In 2015, Tomas, now a Cuban Musical Legend released his first single “Suky “ , a song that blends multiple rhythms native of the Caribbean and Africa, to form a unique and contagious melody. Tomas will also be releasing his self-titled debut album in the 4th quarter of 2015 which is a fusion of more than eight musical styles including root reggae, afrobeat, reggae, dance hall, salsa, olodun (samba reggae), and reggaeton. This Cuban Legend is still young at heart and plans to spread his spirit across the musical landscape with every breath he is blessed to take. Musician. Singer. Songwriter. Worldwide dance single "Suky" going viral. New album coming late 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6ljYT5u
