The Purge Effect

Hailing from Baltimore, MD, The Purge Effect is a melting pot of influences, defying genres and uncompromising in its delivery. Born out of a set of home-recorded demos, the band is frontman E. David Nazario's brainchild. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer, David was looking for a different sound that would suit his tastes, looking to his much loved influences Deftones and Depeche Mode for inspiration and uniqueness. Raised in Puerto Rico, these influences combined with the varied rhythmic sensibilites of tropical music weighed into what their current sound is. The result is a powerful melange of rock sounds fused to a big-chorus pop sensibility and the open-hearted lyrical appeal of singer-songwriter fare. The Purge Effect has made a name for themselves in the Baltimore rock scene, opening for national acts Hurtsmile, Smile Empty Soul, Hurt, Taproot, and others. In 2013 they released their debut album, Sounds of a Storm Coming, and they're getting ready to release two EP's, Wood (with acoustic renditions of their most popular tracks), and Hemispheres, a heavier, more experimental collection of songs.
