July 2016. A rusty white station wagon lies crippled on the edge of a tobacco field in northern Florida. The sun beats down on a bleached country road. Sitting on the vehicle’s hood is a young man that has just accepted his own lack of control, and will spend the next two years reflecting and reimagining a lifelong dream. Clay’s music paints a portrait of a nomad; an outsider; an old soul stuck in a twenty-something’s body. Lyrical narratives delve into internal conflict between Ego and Id, the yearning to be something better than what one is pulled toward by society.
