About Rodney Morss Inc.

Rodney Morss was born in Midwestern Illinois in the small town of Galesburg. He grew up in the rural farming community town of Henderson, population 300 people. He presently works for Crop Production Services doing multiple tasks such as sprayer operator and truck driver. When he’s not busy with work he travels around singing Christian Country Gospel at different churches and events in the area. While he enjoys local venues he has also traveled many of the southern states such as Texas, Georgia, Tennessee and Missouri to name a few.
He was introduced to Country music early in life as it was a big part of family gatherings. His grandparents were both musically talented as his grandfather played the fiddle and grandmother often times played the piano. One of his major influences is his older brother Tim “Montana” Morss. He played guitar and his influences became Rodney’s influences. These included Country greats such as Waylon Jennings, Meryl Haggard, and George Jones. This instilled the love of music, which stuck with him even though life went a different direction.
Even though as a young child he was brought up in a church going family with good morals and work ethic, by the time he was a young teen, his outlook had changed. He started experimenting with alcohol and cigarettes at a very early age. By his late teens he had advanced to drugs and no longer had the desire to go to church or do more than hang out with friends that did the same.
As life progressed the addiction and lifestyle grew worse. It resulted in multiple run-ins with the law and later a divorce. Finally, in 2003 he was introduced and qualified to attend a rehab program called Teen Challenge. This was the first turning point in his life where he discovered his own musical talents and aptitude for writing and singing music.
Some of his highlights include in 2014 when he released his album “Almost Home” and was visited in his hometown by the producer Gerald Crabb for the release party at the Orpheum Theatre. The night of the concert he was able to accompany Gerald Crabb in singing Gerald’s original song “Still Holdin On”.
One of the major challenges Rodney faces is trying to effectively juggle a full time job and a full time ministry while finding time for family as well. On the other hand, the reward of being able to encourage and help people that have gone through similar struggles is a blessing. During his ministry he has had many people ask for prayers and he has even been able to introduce multiple to the Lord.
In “2015” Rodney’s newest album “Almost Home” won the Modern Gospel CD of the Year awarded by the USA Rural Roots Music Commission. He was also awarded the “Male New Vocalist of the Year” award for the Central division with the Country Gospel Music Association in Branson Mo. He also recently won the “Male New Artist of the Year” at the ICGMA in Branson Mo. In “2015” One of his singles “Headed Home, Almost There” was on the Christian Voice Magazine Top 100 CVM Country Gospel Chart for 3 months and reached the 40th spot.
In “2016” his newest single “Born in America” has reached #1 on other Christian music charts, such as Cashbox Charts and Christian Servant Magazine and went to #2 in "Christian Voice Magazine"!
So far this year (“2016”) Rodney has won “Male Vocalist of the Year” with the” Country Gospel Music Association” C.G.M.A Central Division. He has also won “The Male Horizon Award” with I.C.G.M.A in Wes Plains Mo. Rodney has also been nominated for “Male Vocalist” of the year with the Artist Music Guild A.M.G.
Rodney’s latest hit single “Born in America” can be found on his website, Amazon, and iTunes along with multiple other digital music apps. He is also involved in the Defenders of Freedom, which is an organization that assists homeless veterans.
Even after going through the Teen Challenge program and finding his musical abilities, he still struggled with addiction. However, God never gave up on him. In “2012” he rededicated his life to Christ and began the journey that has lead him to this point in his ministry.
One of the songs that has been an inspiration for Rodney has been “Through the Fire” by Gerald Crabb. It has been an encouraging song during rough patches in his life.

Rodney’s mission would be to help bring more people to know Jesus through his testimony and songs. One of his "2018" goals would be looking forward to recording his first all hymn album. A Rodney Morss Ministry concert or event can typically change depending upon the demographic of audience. While some are specifically arranged, others can be more open and free flowing with the crowd.
