About Spike Polite & sewage
New York City in the notorious Tompkins Square Park iSpike Polite formed a punk rock band, then named 'HumYn Sewage". The band was well known for being one of the last true breed street punk bands still hanging about in the Lower East Side and East Village. Unlike the music being called punk on popular radio stations, Sewage's music was raw and had chromatic progressions with angry shouting lyrics protesting for affordable housing, equal rights, marijuana legalization and police brutality. The band was involved in the political movement through the squat culture in nYc's lower east side , often involved in the protests and sometimes riots in Tompkins Square Park.underground - while others sat on the sidelines. Sewage was running full force into the fray - both on the street and in the venues. The Humyn Sewage lineup and name changed in 1993 and went forward as Sewage and presently as NYC Sewage...
