About Smudge

There is more than one Smudge:

Smudge Australia
Smudge is a pop band which formed in Sydney, Australia in 1991. The group is fronted by vocalist and guitarist, Tom Morgan who co-authored The Lemonheads breakthrough 1992 album It's A Shame About Ray as well as a number of other hits for that group.

Smudge was formed in 1991, initially only to contribute a song to the Half A Cow 7-inch compilation, "Slice". The band went on to record the Don't Want To Be Grant McLennan 7" single which was soon made John Peel's record of the week. On the back of this success, several more releases followed, then in 1994 bassist Paul Duncan left the band to complete his business studies degree and was replaced by former Headache bassist, Adam yee. The line-up has remained the same ever since, with the exception of 1997 and 1998 when Pete Kelly (ex-Disneyfist, Sea Life Park, Decoder Ring) joined the band on second guitar, and helped record the album, Real McCoy, Wrong Sinatra.

From late October 1999 till 2002 the band went on an extended hiatus while drummer Alison Galloway went trekking across the world. Effectively on-hold for good, the band re-united for a few select Sydney and Melbourne shows at the end of 2004, 2006 and again in July 2008.

Smudge UK
An alternative Pop/Rock band from Northwest UK, Smudge have been described as a cross between Pop Punk and Emo. The band formed back in early 2004 after meeting in college, and since then has played with Zebrahead, Useless ID, The Fight, Failsafe, Flood of Red and Brigade .

Still a new band, they have played well over 150 shows and are constantly writing new material.
