About 51 FIFTY

They’re sporting the name 51 Fifty--the police code for a lunatic--so you can be sure DJ Presto One and drummer Dustin J are coming with that ol’ crazy stuff. Not just in what you might expect from a DJ/drummer combo (hip-hop/rock mashups with plenty of scratching over beats) but in the unexpected as well (house and dance music styles). 51 Fifty has already made a name for itself on the celebrity-soaked Las Vegas strip, turning heads and captivating crowds who just have to hang around longer than they planned to in order to answer the question, “Who are these guys?” These guys are two people who are among the best at what they do. DJ Presto One, now 15 years deep in the game, has toured around the globe, from North America to Europe to Japan, and at his home base of Las Vegas, he has played at some of the largest clubs, including his residency at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He is also an active member of the legendary Rock Steady Crew and has shared the stage with such luminaries as The Roots, KRS-One, Q-Bert, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Funkmaster Flex in addition to his work celebrities like Britney Spears, TJ Lavin, Estella Warren, and Rosario Dawson. Dustin J, meanwhile, has been drumming since he was a child, banging on pots and pans until getting a drum set at the tender age of two. Fast-forward to 2006, when Dustin joined the band Sprockets and began touring all over the west. In 2008, Sprockets relocated from Boise, Idaho, to Las Vegas and made a name for themselves with both live shows and recorded music--their song “Safety Nets & Fastened Windows” has been dominating the Las Vegas Weekly charts. When Presto and Dustin first joined forces at Carey Hart’s Wasted Space club in the Hard Rock Hotel, where they both had been gigging separately, they found immediate chemistry that neither of them had found with other DJs or drummers. From that fateful first jam session--which Dustin played with a broken arm--notice was served that this is one combo that you don’t want to miss. Spyonvegas.com dubbed them “the hottest since DJ AM-TRVS,” and people like UFC president Dana White and Santana vocalist Andy Vargas couldn’t help but catch the buzz. Since then, the improvisation has stayed top-notch, and the planned routines are getting more numerous and more impressive every day. 51 Fifty already has a mixtape out called “Body Bags,” and there are more releases on the horizon as the duo polishes up new material. While they stay rocking their home base in the Hard Rock Hotel, they also plan to take their act on the road, building the buzz not just in the Vegas club scene, but all over. After all, it shouldn’t just be Vegas that gets to see what a drummer/DJ combo done right looks like. High Energy Live Show. DJ/ Drummer Duo w/ Dancer
