Monalia

Monalia is an Oslo-based band, which has created their own, unique genre, called mountain surf, influenced by the 60s pop and the British underground scene from the 80s and early 90s. At the same time a lot of the inspiration comes from the beautiful mountains of Telemark, where the foundering of the band, Terje Halmrast, has his roots.


Monalia is about longing; about getting away from all the worries and disappointments in everyday living life, to a better world inside, where the greatness, the peace and the savagery of nature slowly gets painted out in the songs...


In May 2015, they released their first singel, "My Little Lies". Their debut EP, "Waited All Too Long", was released the year after, in May 2016.


Monalia was in the studio first half of 2018, recording their first full-length album. The first single from their upcoming album, "Want To Be A Star", was released on the 14th of September. The second one, "HTLT", was out the 2nd of November. Their third and last single, "Coming Home" was released the 8th of February. Their first full-length album, "So Much Better" was out the 5th of April 2019. The album release will be followed by a tour in Norway this spring.
