About 3 Bucksworth

That 3 Bucksworth hails from Central Florida should come as a surprise to no one. They’re following in a great tradition of legendary musicians and songwriters; Tom Petty, The Allman Brothers, Gram Parsons, Stephen Stills, Don Felder, Jim Morrison and Rob Thomas all called Central Florida home at one time. 3 Bucksworth simply calls their style “Music for Everyone”. Certainly 3BW is a rock band at heart, but you can hear bluegrass, blues, folk, rockabilly, old time country, reggae and R&B in their music as well. 3 Bucksworth began as an acoustic duo in 2005. Mark came on board in 2007 and everything started to come together. With a rock-solid rhythm section and a move toward a more mainstream rock sound, 3BW really started to attract attention. The songs kept coming, and within a year 3 Bucksworth went from playing bar gigs of cover material to playing their own music at major venues including The WMMO Downtown Concert Series in 2009, 2010 and 2012, opening for legendary acts America, Sister Haze, Kenny Loggins; also opened for Little River Band, Brantley Gilbert and Maggie Rose; Ambassadors of Rock 2010 at the Hard Rock Live; The Daytona International Speedway during speedweeks; their CD release party featuring Hindu Cowboys at The Plaza Theatre; Bike Week at Daytona; to name a few, as well as numerous festivals and radio events. They were finalists and/or runners up in The Billboard Song Contest, Mike Pinder’s Songwars and The Gary Allen Nashville Song Contest. They won Tijuana Flats’ “Rock Out with your Guac Out” contest and were the featured band on Tijuana Flats’ main web page for March 2010. They performed live on XL 106.7’s Johnny and Jayde Show in morning drive time, and were featured on Real Radio 104.1’s popular “Sunday Morning Coming Down”, WMMO’s “Sunday Morning Acoustic” and Orlando’s News Channel 13 and WFTV ABC Channel 9. Their music has been featured on PBS on “Around Florida” and they were profiled in Orlando Home and Leisure Magazine and on OrlandoBands.com. In February 2010, 3BW released their sophomore effort and first full-length album, “Indiana”, to amazing response. Produced by Brett Hestla (Creed, Dark New Day, Virgos Merlot) and Sean Shannon (Pat Travers, Dixie Dregs, Molly Hatchet), the CD is a triumph. “There’s really something for everyone on the CD”, says Chris. “We don’t in any way write to a formula. Whatever comes out comes out, and sometimes it’s straight rock, sometimes it’s a big ballad, sometimes it’s fun and silly, or more often it’s something in between. I know the powers that be in the music industry want a nicely-wrapped, packaged product that fits into a popular genre, but we just can’t so that, nor do we really want to. And the great thing is that our fans all have their favorites, and typically they’re passionate about their choice. Some people love the longing and simplicity of “Indiana”; some people love the big emotion and huge chorus of “Raise a Glass”; some people love the darkness and texture of “I Wasn’t with You” or the pure rock of “Hallelujah” or “She Forgets”. Every single song on the CD has its own fans. A lot of people’s response has to do with the, *ahem*, maturity of the band. “We’re not kids anymore”, says Chris, “So we don’t write from that perspective. We all have families and lives outside of the music, because that was all going on before we really started writing these songs. There’s no teenage angst. There’s some remembrance of teenage angst.” The songs also reflect the unique challenges of growing older and raising a family or looking at our lives and the decisions we’ve all made and how they’ve affected us. Chris says, “There’s certainly depth in these songs that some people get and some don’t. They all mean something specific and palpable to us. Honestly it doesn’t always matter. There are word people and there are melody people, but if one of our songs brings about emotion in someone it makes us really happy. People interpret them differently. We’re always interested to hear what people think the songs are about, because they’re usually close, if not right on, but not always in the right context.” The CD also received an “A” review from Xander Rich of OrlandoBands.com. All along, 3 Bucksworth is trying to get their music to the people, any way they can. Mark says, “It’s tough for any good band nowadays, but we can’t go the traditional route. We’re simply not able to go out on the road for any period of time, and we’re not ‘in the scene’; out at the clubs hanging with other bands and musicians. We have families and responsibilities. Luckily we’re still a hell of a cover band, so we can do a lot of gigs playing about half our own material and half covers and it works out well.” They also try to get opening slots with more adult contemporary and adult alternative artists and classic bands whenever possible. Wherever they go, people love the music. Kids and young adults, people from their teens to their 70’s; rock fans, country fans, everyone in between. They do not disappoint. Big hooks and big harmonies are almost always a winning combination. Give them a listen and you’ll know why it’s “Music for Everyone”. Acoustic Roots Rock!
