About The Signies

The Signies first began between Ben Lowe (lead vocals/rhythm guitar/harmonica/keyboard) and Renaud Deyber(lead guitar/2nd vocals) when they had a jam session together back in February 2010. Renaud came up with some chords and they made their first song out of it: Miss Revolution. They then took Javier Pedraza as a drummer and Pedro Ramos joined in later on playing bass. There's a variety of nationalities within the band. Renaud from France, with Pedro and Javier being from neighbouring countries Portugal and Spain, and with the additional English nationality being contributed by Ben to complete the line-up. In September 2010 they then appointed longtime friend Kirsty Sutherland as the band's manager. Throughout 2010 they played numerous gigs as well as supporting both LUMI and Ana & The Randefelts. They were invited to and played an acoustic set at the 2010 edition of Walfer Museksmaart. This led to a radio interview with 100,7 FM and the Rockhal including The Signies in their 2011 CD compilation project. 2011 has turned out to be a good year for The Signies so far with them kicking off a start to the new year by playing Battle Of The Bands as hosted by Radio ARA & Bonus Noise Studios. They were featured exclusively performing an acoustic set and later being interviewed on France 5’s Echappées Belles tv program on 22nd January. With the band showing such promise they consequently signed to KiwiKollective. They recently appeared on Tara James' Breakfast show on Ara City Radio for an interview and acoustic set and made a guest comical appearance on Monday Mayhem Show with Kirsty & Andreas in which they covered songs that listeners would text in for. Throughout the summer of 2011 they have played 3 festivals so far; Food For Your Senses, Fête de la Musique and Big Bang Festival. The remainder of the summer will involve the boys locking themselves away to record. The band will be recording their debut EP with RiverStudios over in Belgium and aim to release the album in September before embarking on a European tour with Younger Dryas and Slydigs. They still have much, much, more to show for 2011 so keep checking back on this page for more info ;-)
