Bangkok The Band

Bangkok: the name chosen by the tree members of the band is not an attempt at exoticism. What the name evokes is a way station often revisited in their constant travels, and an effervescent meeting place where musical ideas and poetry came together. While the d’Ollone brothers, Barthélémy and Melchior, spent their childhood singing in sacred music choirs, Antoine’s was steeped in the rhythms and melodies of Africa. They first met in Paris, reconnecting over the years in the course of their travels. Not long ago, they found themselves together in Madagascar to make music and produce unique concerts in far-flung locations across the Indian Ocean island. In Bangkok, their musical project started in earnest to take shape. For two years they matured their style and composed what would become the raw material for their first album. Grounded and organic, each song is conceived as a journey with often-unexpected textures, from the dreamy to the sensual, from the tranquil to the stormy, from introspection to dance… Sophisticated vocal harmonies, elegant melodies, real instruments and a sound that is of now, a music that is elaborated but retains the spontaneity of the instant, refined but filled with the scents of mysterious backrooms and dark, enticing alleys…Like the city, Bangkok are about contrasts. The journey may be startling, but it is also gently addictive.
