Matthew Kocel’s weekend workshop Throat Singing/Voice Activation was transformative! It felt very challenging to sign up for this as I have never felt comfortable using my voice and pushed myself to do it. Matthew is a delightful person and very skilled musician dedicated to guiding people to heal and gain confidence in voice use and he has a very unique approach. Everyone in our group expressed some fears about putting ourselves in what felt like a vulnerable situation but Matthew created an extremely safe, respectful and playful space where I felt relaxed and explored the methods with ease and curiosity. We had a lovely group of varieties of ages, genders and backgrounds and yet there was a gentle trusting energy present and lots of Joy was experienced! I felt tension drop away and simply played with using my voice and mouth to explore sounds with no big goals…. Like being a kid again! In a safe playground with skilled demonstrations and guidance from Matthew I experienced a big transformation around the ease of use of my voice and a great sense of freedom! This is a practice I will definitely continue to play with in my day and will absolutely attend future events, and enjoy Matthew’s healing music!
