About BURIED IN BLACK

Buried In Black is a mid-west hardcore metal band that take influences from all realms of the metal world and put them together to construct their heavy and devastating sound. With their battering drums, earth shattering bass, flesh ripping guitar riffs and fierce and intense vocals, Buried In Black has always aimed on creating truly sincere and straightforward metal from the beginning. Infiltrating the local Illinois and tri-state scene for over five years now, Buried In Black are showing no intentions of slowing down and continue to carve their own path of musical destruction. The inception of Buried In Black dates back to the summer of 2006 (06/06/06 to be exact). Four guys (Alan Poe, vocals/Brandon Poe, guitar/Adam Lidy, drums and Levi Hollinshead, bass) from barren central Illinois, jamming in a garage under the hot summer sun, with a burning passion to create heavy music. "From the beginning, Buried In Black never set out to be thrash metal, death metal or nu-metal, we just wanted to be METAL," explains front-man, Alan Poe. From the get-go, Buried In Black has been 100% original, opting not to take the cover band route that many bands choose to take, especially in the early days. "Being an original metal band from central Illinois isn't exactly the easiest path to pursue," he says. "But we have always harbored that 'Blood Sweat and Tears' attitude. We always prided ourselves in putting immense hard work and dedication into what we believe in, which is our music." So from the start, Buried In Black hit central Illinois and surrounding areas hard, playing anywhere and everywhere, making as much noise as they possibly could. House parties, dives, old school houses, barns, fields, it didn't matter as long as there was room to set up their gear and bang their heads. "Here we were playing anywhere from 30 to 100 miles away, and losing money out of our pockets every damn gig, but that mattered not to us. It was all about pursuing our passion, our dream and letting people hear these musical creations of ours." Days, weeks and months went on and Buried In Black continued writing and hitting the road hard, destroying venue after venue, building up steam and gaining more and more recognition. However, in late 2006, original bassist Levi was feeling musically unfulfilled and had a desire to pursue a different musical avenue, so he respectfully left the band. Immediately Buried In Black approached local area bassist Tim Carter, and it turns out he was the perfect fit. Buried In Black was everything he wanted in a band and vice versa, from the style of music to the personalities of the band members. Everything clicked from there, and their pursuit immediately picked up where it had left off. From there, they continued their aggressive assault on the central Illinois music scene. In 2008, they found the time to record a self produced demo and proceeded to hand it out anywhere and everywhere they went, expanding their fan base one person at a time. With vigilant self promotion, a self-produced demo, and a ton of shows under their belt, Buried In Black proceeded to take central Illinois and beyond by storm over the next several years. After catching the ears of and earning the respect of more and more mid-western metal heads, B.I.B got on board with several bigger local area bands and several national acts including DevilDriver, Cannibal Corpse, Skeletonwitch, Straight Line Stitch, Silent Civilian and Vampire Mooose, multiplying their fan-base and playing even more shows. The popularity of Buried In Black kept growing and growing. As time went on and new territories were conquered, Buried In Black caught the attention of one Terry Rose, who was in the process of starting up his own record label. In 2011, Buried In Black signed to AlleyWay Entertainment (Terre Haute, Indiana). They proceeded to record their debut full length album entitled "As The Plague Unfolds" which is due out in 2012, as well as releasing their single One By One and their official music video for the song. Currently Buried In Black is staying busy doing shows to promote their debut album and single. In addition, they have already begun the writing process for their follow up album. With what seems to be a very bright future, Buried In Black has no intentions of slowing down. "I feel very blessed for the journey that we have been on and I can't wait to see what the future holds," says Poe. "We have worked very hard for all of this and we have learned a lot over the years. I am immensely proud of everything we have accomplished thus far. We live, breathe and bleed this and I don't see it ending anytime soon," he goes on to say. With all of their accomplishments on a local standard, Buried In Black is poised and ready to take everything to the next level very soon and attain prominence in the metal world. It is only a matter of time... Our debut album "As The Plague Unfolds" is now available!! Visit www.buried-in-black.com
