About Matt Olson
Matt Olson is a true music virtuoso. He a multi-instrumentalist that thrives from the ability to pick up an instrument and begin the process of mastery. Matt is very humble about his abilities and skill level and is always striving to improve not only as a musician but as a human being as well. Matt has extensive experience being on the road as part of a touring band that was highly regarded by the 'Americana' and 'Roots' music scene. In addition, Matt also planned several tours using his social and networking skills. When performing, Matt has the innate ability to engage a crowd while drawing each individual in one by one with his stimulating thought provoking lyrical content and warm vocalizations. Most Recently, Matt has been working on his first full length solo album that is soon to be released as "Adjustment, Part 1". The title of his soon to be released album exemplifies where Matt is not only in his musical career but as an individual. In this life, one must keep shifting as they learn who they are. Adjusting is a natural condition of life and Matt delves into philosophic matters in his music that is sure to compel the listener to contemplate life . Matt has been working hard on the recording aspect of making an album as well as playing mandolin, banjo, lap steel and guitar. In addition to the main instruments he specializes in previously listed, Matt can also play dobro, upright bass, harmonica, kazoos, and electric bass. A pivotal highlight of Matt's career was when the band (Filthy Still) he was part of got signed onto Farmageddon Records. Their hard work paid off and with the record label endorsing them, their fan base only grew. In addition, their contacts and ability to network within and beyond the scene of their genre developed and expanded exponentially. For example, they were able to go on two European Tours and play infamous festivals such as Farm Fest, Muddy Roots and Muddy Roots Europe. Additional areas of significant accomplishment of Matt's career include releasing three full length albums with his previous band and touring with influential bands and musicians that he looked up to. The Calamity Cubes, Philip Roebuck, Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy and Gallows Bound are a few examples of the performers he was able to collaborate with and learn from. Throughout his career, Matt has always been known for his ability to pick up just about any instrument and play it decently and with ease. Matt can easily play two instruments off and on stage and people watch him perform with anticipation. He is also known for his vocal range and his higher vocal intensity. His voice is both distinctive and inviting. Lastly, his lyrical content stands out as humorous but intellectually engaging. Songs such as "Where are all the Bigfoot Bones?", "Work with What you Got" and "Dinosaur S**t" are a great example of this. These tracks are brilliant, fun and timeless. Matt is enmeshed in all things music and pushes on daily to learn and grow. His solo material is developing wonderfully and he is sure to succeed with all of the endeavors he pursues in the future. With major interests in recording and music production, as well as continuing to perform live and collaborate with fellow musicians, Matt enjoys all aspects of his lifestyle. He will continue to strive for achievement and with his work ethic when it comes to music, he is sure to succeed.
