About Mark Wright
A chance encounter last year in Berlin, with members of Spandau Ballet, led to the recording of 8 self-penned tunes towards the end of 2015. Recorded with, and produced by Toby Chapman (Spandau Ballet keyboards since 1985 and Tom Jones musical director), the album features some outstanding session guys, including Kevin Miller (Ex Style Council), James Nesbitt (Rod Stewart band, Belinda Carlisle band, Lily Allan & Kylie Minogue)
Listening to the tracks on his album “Flying Solo”, it’s plain to hear where Mark’s musical roots lie. As someone born in the mid 70’s, my teenage years were dominated by the “Madchester” sound and he was heavily influenced by The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, The Smiths etc….. this later led to an Oasis obsession and subsequent love of Noel Gallagher’s solo work. Like most aficionados of these bands, Mark is crazy about Paul Weller, The Who and most importantly The Beatles.
The final cut of the album should be released later this year. In the meantime, please listen to the four songs on the EP. Hopefully you can get to hear them live soon too
