Gemma Dorsett

Born and raised in Surrey, Gemma Dorsett began her musical journey singing in the church choir as a child, and quickly learned how good it made her feel. This early love affair with singing developed into playing solo acoustic sets, treating the congregation to tracks by her greatest influences at the time (and still today) – Bette Midler, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Karen Carpenter, to name just a few.

Later, Gemma discovered a passion for New Country and became especially influenced by the vocal force and style of Wynonna Judd. Gemma’s cover of “Why Not Me” was released in the European Hot Disc Chart Top 40 in 2002, leading to her recording a Nashville album in 2003, where she worked with Nashville’s finest musicians.

Gemma has spent the past 15 years developing her voice across rock, blues and soul finding influence in gut-punching artists such as Melissa Etheridge and Joe Cocker. Gemma currently leads blues/rock band Eleven:11, who play the music of Joe Bonamassa, Etta James, King King, Susan Tedeschi and more.

Gemma also works with acclaimed queens of rock band Never The Bride, guest starring with them on stage at The Pheasantry, Chelsea; The Green Note, Camden; The Half Moon, Putney; Toulouse Lautrec, Kennington and the Bull in Barnes, where she has also performed with the Flamingo All Stars.

Gemma is currently writing songs with her Never The Bride mentors Nikki Lamborn and Catherine “Been” Feeney, and is set to record her EP later this year.
