About Bloodwraith

There, within the Temple walls, the incense smoke fills the room, the candles drip their consecrated wax, and the blood offering is dripped onto the Sigil below. The energies grow as the powers of darkness are called forth. This is where the Great Works of Darkness are performed. It is here where Bloodwraith was born out of a chrysalis of pure magickal energy. "As there was war in heaven, peace began to falter on the earth..." Bloodwraith was formed in August 2010 in Lewisburg, WV by Wargoat to continue on the path created by his former band, Shadows of Sin. The intention had been to expand upon the past by creating new hymns that would reach deep into the souls of all who chose to listen. With the goal always being moving forward with the scope of his compositions, some demo tracks were recorded throughout 2010 and into 2011, but for various personal reasons the project was put on hold. It wouldn't be until the spring of 2012 that Bloodwraith would strike back with new songs and new members. Wargoat enlisted the help of a session drummer and second guitarist, but this only resulted in the recording of one demo track, entitled “The Return of Winter Darkness.” After this, Wargoat was joined by his longtime friend and past band member Mori (meaning “Host” in Serbian) in the early summer of that year. The two wrote ten new songs for their first album, which they recorded in late July/early August. Due to problems with the sound, only 8 of these songs were included on the finished album, entitled As Above, So Below. A new chapter of darkness had now begun. "A fist in the face of holiness, we bring the hammer down..." The album was released in a mere 33 CD-R copies, which did not satisfy the band, and soon after this, the two decided that new songs must be created, so they set out to write feverishly until they had enough songs for a new album. During the rest of 2012 and all of 2013, the band wrote many new songs, all of which sounded more mature and much more varied than the songs that appeared on their first album. In the winter of 2014, As Above, So Below was finally re-issued by Supreme Violence Productions on CD format with new artwork. The band now considers this the definitive version of the album. "Night casts a shadow over the day..." In the spring of 2014, the band began to record pre-production demo versions of the songs that were set to appear on their next album. Four songs had been tracked to test the waters and see just what the band was capable of. The songs themselves sounded much better than even the members themselves could have anticipated. That summer, new bassist Nihilist Emeritus joined the band, bringing an added dimension to the soundscape and opening new possibilities, most important of which was playing live, something that Wargoat always intended for Bloodwraith. In November of 2014, the band made plans to enter the studio to begin the recordings of their new album, now entitled “The Omnipresent Darkness.” Unfortunately, these sessions did not produce a fitting sound for the band so the recordings were discarded and further work was to be done. The band decided that the best course of action was to take their time to ensure that every aspect of the record is to their liking. This is a testament to their artistic vision of the band. For personal reasons, Nihilist Emeritus decided to take a break from music so the band sought out a new bassist who could bring an even heightened darkness to the collective, and that soul was found in Coprophile. He brings a renewed energy into the band, not only on a musical and personal level, but being a practioner of the black arts himself he also brings a magickal energy as well. Nihilist Emeritus still acts as a spiritual advisor and passive band member. In the fall of 2015, the band unleashed a teaser for the new album entitled “The Foreordained Darkness,” consisting of five songs which will appear on the new album in demo form. Before something can be omnipresent, it must first be foreordained. Once this stage is complete, the omnipresent darkness can thus take hold. “Hail the Transcendence” Bloodwraith is a collective of four souls who have sworn their devotion to the furthering of spiritual development and Black Metal. This is no weekend hobby or party. This is pure Black Metal, played with a religious fervor that would make any white light disciple bow in reverence. Curse he who be the one to stand in the way of one’s will. Thus it is spoken, thus it is done.
