The Katie Mitchell Band - Biography Katie Mitchell is a singer/songwriter newly local to Long Beach, New York, whose powerful voice is creating a buzz amongst audiences along the South Shore. Her musical roots began in Virginia at a young age; she learned harmonies by singing along to artists like the Indigo Girls with her mother, and she’s been writing her own music and performing for live audiences since age 8. As a solo act Katie has played around Manhattan and Queens at such venues as Kenny’s Castaways (New York, NY), The Recoup Lounge (New York, NY), The Hart Crane Black Box (New York, NY), The Moldy Fig (New York, NY), and the Irish Cottage (Forest Hills). Katie was consistently a solo artist until she met her drummer, John Condon, at an open mic in Forest Hills, New York, in 2012. Condon’s adventurous percussion and subtle harmonies made him the perfect compliment to the act. As a duo they played in such venues/restaurants as the Irish Cottage (Forest Hills, NY), Thai Rock (Far Rockaway, NY), Left Coast Kitchen (Merrick, NY), The Hub Billiards (Island Park, NY), New Plaza Beach Club (Atlantic Beach, NY), Jetty (Long Beach, NY), The Long Beach Hotel (Long Beach, NY), Villaggio (Long Beach, NY), and J.W. Trainors (Long Beach, NY). In April 2014, the versatile and multi-talented John Botten joined the band, originally as the group’s bass player. Now the lead guitarist, Botten’s incredible talent gives the band it’s most polished and professional sound yet. The three perform as the primary members of the band, and are often joined by an array of other talented musicians. They have created a stir in the Long Beach live music scene, and are being called “the best little band in Long Beach” by fans and promoters alike. As a band, the group has played at music festivals and events including Folk-2-Funk (Long Beach, NY), Arts in the Plaza (Long Beach, NY), Brenner Mountain Music Festival (Neversink, NY), and Yasgur Road Reunion (Woodstock, NY), and venues such as Fuscamos Bar & Grill (Merrick, NY), East Islip Lanes (East Islip, NY), Pie Craft (Island Park, NY), Biddy Mulligan’s (Long Beach, NY), Lilly’s (Long Beach, NY), A Whale’s Tale (Long Beach, NY), and JR Asian Fusion Lounge (Long Beach, NY).
