About Driven Astray
Wes DeLoach and Seth Greeson formed Driven Astray (formally known as Driven Under) with a clear vision and a strong passion for music. When Chris Younes filled the bass position, the Myrtle Beach trio began to write and developed a special chemistry. After months of rehearsal, the band emerged with a collection of fleshed-out ideas and decided that it was time to bring their vision to life.
At the onset of 2014, Driven Astray formed a close partnership with producer, Cory Plaugh and recorded their first single "Not Alone". The success of their first release, afforded them the oportunity to open for platinum recording artist, Hoobastank.
Following the departure of Younes that summer, the band auditioned a number of talented musicians to fill the role and even went through a few lead guitarists. Finally, Chris Canada was asked to play bass, it was time to finish the record the fans have been yearning for.
At almost a year after the release of Not Alone, the group finally had a collection of tracks they were truly proud of.
"We wanted to take our time," says Greeson. "We didnt want to over produce this record, but we didn't want to rush it either. It's been a great experiance working with Cory. He really brought out the best in us as musicians."
The debut EP will be an incredibly intense and dynamic release, proving the band continues to grow and evolve with each song.
Lyrically, DeLoach delivers emotive honesty yet remains vague enough to make a connection with the audience. "The songs deal with the relationships and hardships from my past. Its a great way to get it all off of my chest. Purging the negativity in our music, allows me to move forward in life and focus on the positive things."
"The name, Driven Astray came after losing our original name and it just made sense to us. I think it's easy for anyone to be lead astray by the struggles in every day life. We have had our share of adversity as a band and as individuals. Overcoming the struggles is what we stand for. We want people to know that they are not alone and that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I like to think that our music is a representation of that."
