Tionesta

In June of summer of 2014, two friends decided to write a song back and forth through some text messages while living down in Southern California for the break. Pretty soon, a guitar part was written and a vocal melody was sung, and there began Tionesta. The band started as a two piece acoustic Alternative-Rock/Pop-Punk with Skyler Metz on guitar and Corrie Clark on vocals. Upon returning back to Chico, CA for the school year, the two wrote a few more songs, this time in person, and performed as Tionesta at Chico Unplugged in the Fall of 2014 for the first time. With such a positive response from friends, family, the community, and drive to keep creating music, the two-piece decided to start writing as a full on, plugged in band. The two initially connected with drummer Ryan Johnson (Surrounded By Giants) in the winter of 2015, who has since moved on to other endeavors, but the band still plays with Johnson on occasion. And no band is complete without a bass player, Tionesta was lucky enough to cross paths with Sean Moore, bass guitar master and audio engineer. With the addition of Moore supplying funky yet punk bass lines, Tionesta grew into what it is today. The now three piece aims to create music that encompasses the trials and errors of being a 20 something learning hard life lessons while always trying to make the best out of any situation. They have been able to pull a crowd in their home-base town of Chico and they never fail to give their all whether it’s for 10 kids or 100. With a good attitude and strong sense of supporting others, the band has been able to create a network around themselves of friends and other local musicians that come and return that support at their shows and the band couldn’t be more thankful. Tionesta released their debut EP, "Northern Winds" in January of 2016 and have since been quickly catching attention from promoters and listeners alike around the North State as well as other parts of California and the US. The band is currently writing new material for their next EP, due out in early 2017. Alternative Rock band from Northern California made up of 20 somethings, instruments, and leftover teen angst.
