Born of several established Victoria bands enters Solvent of Society. Formed around the idea that the people of earth are equal and the disregard for systems that oppress and degrade others. Solvent of Society delivers with meaningful lyrics regarding financial and political corruption, feeling lost in the world, and the struggles within youth. Influenced by the grunge attitude and sound of Nirvana, the strong opinions of Rage Against the Machine, as well as the laid back musical stylings of Sublime. As an admirer of Singer/Guitar player Jake Sunstrum’s past projects, Lead Guitarist Jaden Johnson approached Jake in a time of musical need. “I always admired his (Sunstrum) song writing. It reached me on a level that only the pros had done before” After working with a few different musicians the final line up was formed. Bryce Gillis, long term middle school friend of Jaden, was added on drums. As far as bassists go SOS has worked with a few close friends before finding the perfect fit with Shaun V. He has been our number one fan since he discovered us. He is amazingly multi-talented and humble. Jake had this to say about the current lineup. “It astounds me each practice, the way 4 people can be so on the same page that making music flows like water. And working towards the future I know this gravitation of musical styles will result in something worthy of a king.” Since its formation the band has played several venues on Vancouver Island including a Tour of the island with two sold out shows and the annual Moonfest in Duncan. The bands musical debut, S.O.S, was well received among fans receiving over 1000 plays online. The 4 song debut demo captures the sound of Solvent of Society to a tee from the punky muck that is Glory, to the softer yet punchy sounds of Stuck on the Wall. Solvent of Society has recently partnered with Production Company Stay Heavy Studios and Rosner Management Services bringing new light on what is possible for the band.
