Barracuda Recordings from Brighton UK have signed vocalist and multi- instrumentalist Hayley Ross. Debut ep ‘Fierce Love’ (cuda001) out November 27th. ‘The brittle brilliance and simplicity of Fierce Love, an ode to the power of a mothers love, (be careful about getting in the way of this lady!) is backed up by two ephemeral beautiful tunes, No Control & Chlorine. There are shades of Mazzy Star, Beth Orton & First Aid Kit, done in the style of a David Lynch soundtrack here.‘ When Hayley went travelling in France & Spain she found the space to start writing her beautiful songs. She writes about the things she understands, and loves the solace of songwriting. Live she plays as a 2 piece, with Rory Clarke on drums/percussion and herself playing either bass or electric guitar. Together they flow in and out of her crystalline songs with a divine, edgy energy, it’s mesmeric, it’s a dance. Hayley’s debut ‘Fierce Love’ is to be featured in MTV’s ‘Awkward’ episode 520.
