DONA NOVA

We are Dona Nova, a hard rock band based in North San Diego County. You can find us performing throughout the Southern California region this year as we are currently raising awareness about our music through live performances focused in and around San Diego county. This project started in January and has been moving at a very fast and energetic pace, we are generating a buzz in the local community and invite you to join us for the ride. The phrase "Dona Nova" can be interpreted in many languages, but our personal favorite comes from the Portugese translation meaning "New Owner." The idea for the project was born from the ashes of several dead-end attempts to collaborate with other musicians and make some great music. As a kind of New Year's resolution, Manny Sanchez, along with brother Luis Ochoa decided to take matters into their own hands and start a band that was not dependent on assistance from other musicians, thus seizing ownership of their musical careers. Together, they wrote a slew of hard rock songs and started to book performances without even having other musicians to fill in the lineup! As the date of their first performance approached, the brothers met guitarist Ian Pryor, and bassist Greyson Weaver through a local audition they held. The two new musicians stepped up to the plate and performed their first show as a part of Dona Nova only two weeks later! The fire that fuels Dona Nova is rooted in the traditions and values of all that made America a great nation. These ideals can be found throughout our lyrics, content, and personal lives. We believe in the foundations of our founding fathers and in restoring the strength of this nation by fostering a sense of love, faith, patriotism, and rock & roll. As a band, we want to celebrate America while we still can, and we are going to do it the only way we know how; by rocking people's faces off!
