About Scribe

There are atleast three bands/artists with this name.

1. Scribe is the stage name of New Zealand rapper Malo Luafutu. Malo Luafutu was born of Samoan descent in Christchurch. He grew up as a fan of rap music with NWA as his first influence. He spent his youth developing his rapping skills with local rap group Beats n' Peaces and Polynesian theatre company Pacific Underground.
His debut album, Crusader, was released in 2003 in New Zealand and has so far gone quadruple platinum in that country, achieving two number one singles.

2. Niraj (ex-PDV, Chaos Theory), Srinivas (ex-Chaos Theory), Vishwesh (ex-Split) and Prashant (Exhumation) comprised the original 2005 line-up, making appearances in and around their hometown (Mumbai). Soon after the release of their debut EP entitled 'Have Hard. Will Core' (on Demonstealer Records) in August 2006, Akshay (Skincold) joined in on guitars and completed the arsenal for their attack.

That was the one common thread that ran through all five musicians that make up Scribe. Drawing inspirations from the legendary bands like 'Sick of it All', 'Hatebreed' and the new revolutionary artists like 'The Dillinger Escape Plan', 'Sikth' and 'Walls of Jericho', the band takes pride in being the torchbearer of 'Hardcore' in India.

Subsequently, the band released their first music video for the song 'One Wing Pencil' on YouTube, and is currently fulfilling censorship formalities before they can broadcast it on television. Incidentally, this video was created entirely on their own, with no sponsors or external funds. They now spend their time in the studio putting together their first full-length debut album.

Having toured across Delhi and Pune, Scribe is waiting to explode somewhere near you.
Just about any second now.
31st- august -08 the band launched their album "Confect", it was distributed for free at I-Rock 08 at mumbai. The album is available for download on their myspace page.

3. rapcore/crossover band from West Virginia, USA.
BIO: Scribe began in 1999, when brothers Josh and Joe Schlessman were jamming in the green room of their Parkersburg, West Virginia home. With only a guitar and a set of drums, the two created their own style of music that is hardcore with rap-like lyrics and some say a twist of punk. Within the first two years, Scribe recorded "Without God We're Nothing," which was released to and played on radio stations in Ohio and West Virginia. In January of 2001, Jon Barnhart joined Josh, the song writer, lead guitarist, and lead vocalist, and Joe, the drummer and background vocalist, as the bass guitarist and third member of Scribe. Just six months later, J Hess joined Scribe, replacing Josh as the lead guitarist, and giving Josh the freedom to move around and get into the music more.

In the short life of the band, Scribe has performed more than 30 shows including a tour of West Virginia in Dec. 2001 and Jan. 2002. Since the recording of their first single, Scribe recorded a demo and just released a ten track CD in July titled Scrapbook of Contemplation. The band has released additional songs to radio stations and placed several on mp3.com, all of which reached at least the top 40 on the rapcore chart.

Every member of Scribe is very dedicated to the band, but apart from Scribe, they each live very different lives. Josh is 19 and a sophomore at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. He writes the lyrics and music for Scribe with help from the band, but his passion for music extends beyond Scribe. Josh has written many more songs with his brother Joe and on his own, and is studying music business. Joe is 17 and a senior at an internet high school. He too loves music, but fills most of his time traveling to and from Lancaster, Ohio, where he spends hours doing gymnastics. Although Joe is not looking to be a professional gymnast, he is thinking about staying in the athletic field to study physical therapy in college. Jon is the youngest member of the band at 15 and a sophomore at Parkersburg High School. He plays the quads in the Big Red Marching Band, is on the quiz bowl team, and even a local bowling team.

While Jon is very interested in many professions, right now he is leaning toward becoming an architect. The oldest member of the band is J. J's given name is B.J. or Bradley James, but to the band he is just J. J is 20 and a junior at West Virginia University in Parkersburg where he is a history major. When J is not in class, he is working as a supervisor at Rax Restaurant. Due to their busy schedules, sometimes the band has 5:30 AM practices and midnight practices. Even though these four guys have very different lives, they share a love for music and a love for Jesus that holds them together.
