About Yumi Godsey (ユミ・ガッドシー)

ユミ・ガッドシーは10歳からアメリカで育ち、15歳でアメリカ人の義父のバンドでカントリーを唄い始める。1981年にNashvilleのプロダクションからスカウト受け、1988年までNashville, Tennesseeで修業しながら様々なタレント活動(モデル、ヴォーカル、舞台役者など)を行う。

1989年に熊本のカントリーシンガー、チャーリー・永谷氏に呼ばれ日本に帰国。

1989年にスタートした熊本の大イベント、Country Goldの第1回目と1990年の第2回目にキャノンボールの一員として出演。

以後バンド活動しながら、レストラン、テーマパーク、クラブなどで唄い、ラジオのDJ、スポーツのオフィシャルコートアナウンサーなどの仕事をする。

2005年に関西に移動し、2007年にTumbling Dice、2010年にMonkey Businessを結成。
Countryや Rockを主に色々なジャンルに挑戦する。同じく2010年に天野SHO氏とアンドレ佐藤氏と共にベースギター、ドブロ、ボーカルの3人ユニット、Pinky Blueを結成。
2013年6月にキングレコードからリリースされたVOWWOWの山本恭司、外道の加納秀人、Naniwa Expressの清水興などを率いるLegend of RockersのCDにコーラスとして参加する。
同じく2013年にRowdy Godseyを結成。そして2014年12月にソロCD、『Unlimited Woman』をリリース。

Yumi Godsey was born in Fukuoka, Japan and was raised in Salina, Kansas where her step father was born and raised.

Started singing Country Music at 15 with her father’s band and recorded her first single record at age17.

Came back to Japan in 1989 and started singing with Charlie Nagatani, who is the founder of Country Gold, a once-a-year-concert in Mt. Aso inviting all kinds of artists from the States such as Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Emmylou Harris, Ricky Scaggs, Steve Warriner, Dan Miller, and more. She sang with Charlie and his band, The Cannonballs, at first two Country Gold concerts and also assisted with the interpretation/translation for the artists while their visit in Japan.

Yumi also worked as radio DJ, done voice overs for TV and Radio commercials and advertisings. Also worked as a court announcer for Handball and Volleyball World Cup and other official International tournaments and helped with interpreting and translating for the foreign athletes.

Later in 2005, Yumi moved to Kansai area. Formed few bands and most recent one is called Rowdy Godsey which was formed in 2013. And in December iof 2014, Yumi released her first CD, Unlimited Woman.

Also in 2013, she sang back up chorus for a group called Legend of Rockers which consists of many well-known artists such as Kyoji Yamamoto with VOWWOW, Hideto Kano with Gedo, Ko Shimizu with Naniwa Express, and many others in their debut CD.

Yumi’s translating credentials in Japan other than those mentioned above are as follows.
