Bastidas!

“Ba!...Sti!...Das! Bastidas!” A name fortified with musical fervor, and psychedelic-acidity that will burn a hole through the brains of each listener. The name itself garners inspiration from the revolutionary principles of La Micaela Bastidas—a warrior and martyr for Peruvian independence—which highlights the band’s freshly brewed passion to revolutionize their musical talents. This Bolen born band has festered among L.A.’s underground scene since 2007, creating a new threshold for post-punk, chunked up bass lines, and sonic synthesis. Bastidas! meld distorted guitars, alluringly eerie vocals, and rampant drum beats, evoking a daunting oasis of rhythmic incantation. In their first 10-month run of relentless practice and performance, the band produced “La Micaela Bastidas” (Dec. 2007). The album introduces itself as a precursor, and reckoning for the enthralled chaos Bastidas! offers. Only a year after the release of their first LP came “Bastidas” (2008). Followed by “Fantastica Bastidas” (2010), and “Time Portal” (2013). Each production carries a searing uniqueness that resonates within anyone in earshot. As noted by The Deli Magazine, Los Angeles, “The five songs that comprise their latest EP Time Portal are carried with primal imperfection, creating this symbiotic mesh of pungent noise that welds into a beautifully chaotic whole” (October 25, 2013). Though well deserved, studio recognition does not suffice. Infused with illustrious dissonance, and uncanny lyricism, Bastidas! is a band to experience live. They’ve toured across the U.S. to El Paso, T.X, Brooklyn, N.Y, and Baja California Norte.
