About Sophya
SOPHYA was formed in the late 90's by Idan K. and Sonja R., together with bass player Shai Ledder. By the end of 1999, the band was based in Holland - Amsterdam and was signed to Xymox Control (owned by Ronny Moorings of the 4AD 80's cult band Clan of Xymox) . The year 2000 finally saw the release of their critically highly acclaimed debut album "THE AGE OF SOPHYA" (released by Pandaimonium Records in EU and Metropolis Records in the U.S.) and reactions of both press and audience were amazing. The name SOPHYA became immediately well known and a guarantee for lovingly music. After touring for a while, in 2002 the group had a change in line-up and joined with bass player Mario Usai (The Haze, Clan of Xymox) and recorded their second album "DREAM" (No.2 of best alternative albums of 2003 - musicfolio.com) and the album was released in April 2003. The band continued touring and appearing in various compilations and in mid 2004 started to work on their next album. In 2005 the band went back on stage and also released their first video for the track "MORE", a track from their forthcoming album titled "Third Wish" . The album is scheduled to be released after summer 2006...
