About History & Lore
East-Anglian based five-piece History & Lore are a band that are no strangers to adaptation and change.
Originally forming at university as an acoustic band in 2014, to say that they have grown from their folk roots, would be an understatement. Now creating a sound that is more sonically aligned with bands such as Manchester Orchestra, Foals, Turnover and Bombay Bicycle Club.
They have mastered their craft of anthemic, sing-along choruses and energetic live shows, drawing reviews such as:
"History and Lore brought the small venue to whole new level of liveliness, which was helped along by their highly energetic music" - This Is Noise
….
“At every turn during the set they delivered even more… One minute they were leaping about on the stage. The next minute they were in the crowd. Want to know to how to make your audience feel completely involved? This was the masterclass you needed.” - Listen To Discover
Their lyrical content has a depth and honesty that main songwriter Danny Kingsley leaves for the listener to interpret in their own way.
Usually covering themes of isolation and vulnerability, there’s a sense of yearning and the need for love. There is a shared ethos amongst the band for positive mental health, not suffering in silence and supporting the grassroots music scene.
Since their inception, History & Lore have been part of showcasing events - such as New Moons, Communion Presents and Wild Paths Festival. They have also worked with BBC Introducing and been fortunate enough to have featured on Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music.
Through hard work, H&L have have managed to get support slots with notable acts such as Sunflower Bean, Fatherson, Orchards and China Bears.
