About The Vultures (AUS)
The Vultures are an Australian rock group consisting of Liam Bowditch and Joe Bon MacPhail. Officially forming in 2013 on the Gold Coast, Australia, Bowditch and MacPhail are forever pushing boundaries in the exploration of their rock and roll synergy.
Liam and Joe's musical journey began at the tail end of primary school, where an instant connection formed. Swapping CDs and guitar tabs quickly evolved into a full-blown sonic collaboration. They cranked up their amps and drummed away in their parents' garages throughout their teenage years, building their musical chops and finding their own unique ways to record their music.
Throughout the mid 2010’s, The Vultures frequented the stages of dive bars along Australia's East Coast, releasing two EPs and a single (later compiled as ‘Night Rock’) which earned them an Australian Independent Music Video Award for 'Shot Me Down' and a Gold Coast Music Awards nomination for 'Candy Cigarettes’.
Taking a break in 2016 to explore other creative pursuits, Liam and Joe returned in 2019, taking The Vultures to Berlin to begin working on new music. A fresh perspective and new ideas led them back to Australia, where they found themselves in Melbourne working on their debut album, ‘Escobar.’ Unexpectedly, they found themselves in some of the world's toughest lock-downs in 2020. For six months they worked in isolation on ‘Escobar’ before returning home to the Gold Coast to finish it off, dropping feature singles 'Every Night', ‘If You Only Knew Your Way’ and ‘Conversations’ in the leadup to the album’s release.
On November 8th, 2022, The Vultures unleashed ‘Escobar’ which has since racked up over 160k streams, plays on Triple J Unearthed and three Gold Coast Music Award nominations. Mu-sic videos for 'If You Only Knew Your Way' and 'Conversations' hit MTV Australia and premieres for the record featured across Happy Mag, Pilerats, Milky, and The Music. Touring the album throughout 2023 culminated in what was described as an ‘epic’ performance which ‘brought a smile to everyone’s faces’ at SPRINGTIME Festival.
