About Protoje

Protoje
Protoje
We owe PROTOJE some of the biggest hits that have shaped the contemporary reggae scene: “Who Knows”, “Rasta Love”, “Kingston Be Wise”, “Switch It Up”, “Really Like You”... From his very first tracks, he quickly rose to become one of the biggest headliners in the genre and has easily maintained that status thanks to the unique artistic vision he brings to his reggae, which is heavily influenced by hip-hop, and at times by soul, R&B, trap, dub, and even rock... always surprising, authentic, and ahead of his time. His consistent talent has earned him multiple Grammy Award nominations and led him to perform hundreds of concerts worldwide and on the stages of the biggest festivals. Through the creation of his collective The In.Digg. Nation, he has also played a major role in promoting the music of an entire new generation of artists within the Reggae Revival movement.

The past few years have been particularly prolific for the artist, who is always on the lookout for carefully crafted concepts that transcend the simple notion of an album. Each of his works marks a pivotal period in his life, prompting reflections on the world and deep introspection as a man, a father, and a professional. His recent projects have been praised by influential media outlets far beyond the reggae sphere: Vogue, Billboard, the BBC, Le Monde, Télérama, Rolling Stone, Nova, FIP, Le Mouv’, RFI, and many others.

This year, Protoje is releasing his seventh album, “The Art of Acceptance”, available since April 17, 2026. Following his Grammy-nominated album “Third Time’s The Charm” (2022), this new project builds on his body of work. On it, he explores consciousness, cultural authenticity, and a deep spiritual grounding, describing it as a journey of introspection and creative rebirth. Produced by his longtime collaborator, Winta James, the album features renowned Jamaican artists such as Shenseea, Masicka, Jesse Royal, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, and Stephen Marley, as well as Pressure Busspipe, originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands. These collaborations reflect Protoje’s commitment to preserving and promoting the sound and spirit of Jamaica on the global stage.

“The Art of Acceptance” tour, which began before the album’s release, has taken him from Jamaica to Europe, via the United Kingdom and North America. The tour includes appearances at major festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the Austin Reggae Festival, Rototom Sunsplash, and numerous venues, including a sold-out show at La Cigale in Paris on April 3.
