About Protozoid
Protozoid was formed in February 2014 from the ashes of brutal southern metal newcomers Judas the Betrayer. Members Stubie Killian, Korey Deen and Travis Grubbs created Protozoid with the simple idea of making the music that they wanted to hear. Then, once they linked up with Uriah Stake on the bass guitar, the line-up was solidified, and the heaviness had truly begun.
Protozoid recorded their debut self titled EP in late 2015 with producer Russell Hollar, and released it January 2nd 2016 with a huge release show, stacked with some of the heaviest hitting bands in DFW. Their album and music in general is a selective breed of organism, combining elements of almost every breed of metal imaginable to blend into the perfect prototein shake of awesomeness. With their southern roots and groovy badass bravado, old school death metal breakdowns, slams, and grinding blasts, their music also flows beyond to the ethereal, barbaric black metal and extracelestial soundscapes, while constantly pummeling along with the driving force of hardcore and two step.
Protozoid has played all around Dallas and Ft Worth constantly since 2014 and has been featured on several local radion stations. They have recently begun to expand their sphere of influence across to west Texas and down to Waco, and north to Tulsa, Oklahoma. They plan to conquer Texas by doing shows in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, El Paso, and wherever else they can find to lay musical waste to along the way, as well as journeying into Lousiana, New Mexico, and Colorado.
Plans for a follow up, full length album have already begun, and The Zoid grows stronger every day.
